After a short/long journey, the participants have arrived to the venue of the REactor conference (European Youth Center, Budapest, Hungary). Our first task was a fancy registration which was followed by our first assignment: make a picture which describes media and human resources. This wasn’t enough though, everybody was photographed with their work.
The next thing was a mission which had to be done between the registration (16:00) and the official conference opening (20:00). We got a paper with 30 unique assumptions on it. Among them there were for example “The person who knows Justin Bieber’s new song”, “The person who has no idea about who is Dr. House”, “The person who has been in jail”. Our mission was to search for matching people with the appropriate sentences.
The process of information gathering was started after the dinner by most of the participants. Everyone accomplished their work in their own way. There were random askings to people to check if some sentences are specific to them. In the end the asked person helped by selecting the specific items. The challenge was that one name had to be written only once – so to find matches to the sentences you had to ask everyone and categorise them.
After the dinner at 20:00 there was a meeting in the “DISCO” room. First we checked the homework by going through all the 30 sentences. After that there was a magnificent hour with the Hungarian Jozsef and the Italian Annamaria between 20:15 and 21:25. They introduced us the world of gypsy music and flamenco. There were a lot of emotional reactions from the audience during the performance of singing and dancing. There were weeping people who were really touched by the experience. The guest star performers have been successful during the night.
At the end of the day there were mutual razzle, singing, dancing and conversations.
We are coming closer and closer to the end of the Video Volunteers project but beautiful surprises are always coming…
The new production of the Man-in-Black label video group from Slovakia embodies what this project is all about! Video activism at it’s best, presenting a personal story in a touching way and portraying a message that is as universal as it can only be.
We would like to present a small text written by the partner organization in Slovakia, Milan Simecka Foundation, describing the background of the video:
“The ViVo group from Moldava and Bodvou, Slovakia, called the “Man-in-Black-label”, is back with a video full of emotions.
This time they depict the life and feelings of a character that grew up in bad living conditions. The topic is very close to their own experience as part of the team is living in a Roma settlement.
The Man-in-Black team wants by their new video to send a message to the world that, even when living in very bad conditions, we cannot give up. We are not alone and maybe someone else has a harder life. Don’t give up!”
We can only give a standing ovation for young productions like this!
You can watch “I’m trying to stay alive” along with the previous works of Man-in-Black-label work,“Gagnsters of ViVo” and “Moldava” on ViVo’s I’Mpossible channel! http://vimeo.com/channels/imposiblevivo

We would like to thank all the people who participated in the “I wish…” international production for their willingness and enthousiasm!
It’s been sometime since Video Volunteers decided to start making Focus Group Interviews. What is great about it? We are doing it in 5 different countries and using video, photo & text to document the results!
During the peer educators ViVo meeting in Malaga, all partners tested and got prepared to run a Focus Group Interview back in their country!
What is a Focus Group Interview?
“Focus group (FG) is a method of group interviewing in which the interaction between
the facilitator and the group as well as between group members provides a space
to express and share thoughts, feelings, attitudes and ideas on a certain subject.”
The THEME- Question of the Focus Groups of Video Volunteers is ” What is the relation between Audiovisual and Social Media with youth participation?”
The LINE-THINKING behind the theme of the Focus Groups is to research whether youngsters believe that there’s a relation between creating and sharing media AND being active in society.
Focus Groups were realized in Slovakia & Spain, already! Greece, Hugnary & Italy are coming up next!
For the video results of the Focus Groups, we are curious! And we stay curious!
At Ulisse youth center, managed by our Italian partners of Spazio Giovani, each month you can find works and art installations by a new young artist, in exhibitions cured by Ulisse center with an inauguration event.
All the activity is entirely organised and managed by a group of young volunteers working as curators for the exhibitions, keeping contacts with media, opening and controlling the place, organising the inauguration event which usually consists in a dj-set or concert by local bands, prepare and spread invitations.
Youth association FulminArte is collaborating in the activity, contacting local young artists.
When the weather is warm, as during this winter (and obviously during spring and summer), inauguration event and part of the exhibition are located in the external garden of Ulisse center, or even in the close public park, where once in a year all youngsters are envolved in a “en-plein-air” painting.
Thanks to the collaboration with Treviglio Cooperative credit bank, all art works after one month of exhibition at Ulisse center, are exposed for another month in the windows of “Youth and Family” space of the same bank.
